A royal visit is an important event in the history of the province. The documentary legacy preserved in the Royal BC Museum and the BC Archives reflects the energy and effort put in by generations of British Columbians who have planned and assisted on various royal tours.
This online record is designed to illustrate some of the ways in which previous early royal visits to British Columbia have been captured on paper and film, and how the legacy of each royal visit also includes the historical record, preserved in the collections of the province’s museum and archives.
The documents, photographs and moving images featured in this website are drawn from a small sample of these collections and reproduced here for the people of BC.
