The Royal BC Museum is excited to welcome educators and students for in-person and online field trips. On this resource page you will find answers to commonly asked questions, what to know before and during your visit and how to book.
Steps to book a Field Trip
- Start by choosing the learning program relevant for your students age group. We offer digital and in-person field trips for students from K to 12.

Prepare for Your School Visit
Thank you for choosing to visit the Royal BC Museum. As you prepare for your visit, take the time to plan your itinerary and familiarize yourself with what to expect during your visit.
What to Know Before you Book
- We recommend booking your in-person field trip or online program a minimum of two weeks (10 business days) in advance.
- Please refer to our cancellation policy if you need to change or cancel your booking.
- Payment is required upon arrival. Please refer to our payment information for details.
- Review the School Group Behaviour Agreement with your class and chaperones prior to your visit then arrive with your form signed to receive your tickets.

When you Arrive
- Please arrive with your group 15 minutes prior to your scheduled visit or program time. Arriving after your onsite program start time can result in a shorter program.
- Please use the group entrance doors located on the east side of the building, closest to Thunderbird Park, at the corner of Douglas St and Belleville St.
- A front of house staff member or volunteer will meet your group to provide an orientation. Please follow their instructions.
- The museum requires 1 adult chaperone for every 5 students (Grades K–8) and 1 adult chaperone for every 10 students (Grades 9–12).
- Visit the box office and present your confirmation letter and signed School Group Behaviour Agreement. Confirm your student and chaperone numbers and pay for your tickets. There will be no refunds or exchanges once the booking has been paid for and the tickets have been printed.
- Backpacks or bags larger than 30 x 30 cm are not permitted in the museum galleries. Please leave all nonessentials in vehicles or at school as we do not guarantee a secure storage area for these items. The museum and IMAX® Theatre are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
School Group Behaviour Agreement
When visiting the galleries at the Royal BC Museum, your class will be sharing the space with other museum visitors. To ensure a positive experience for everyone, it is important to be mindful and respectful to others. To help facilitate this, we have created a Group Behaviour Agreement that must be reviewed with your class and chaperones prior to your visit and again upon arrival. Additionally, please bring a signed copy of the agreement to present at the box office in order to pick up your tickets.
Teacher Preview Pass
We invite teachers to explore the Royal BC Museum galleries ahead of their scheduled school tours. This preview allows you to plan your students' visit effectively, identify key exhibits that align with your curriculum, and gather any necessary materials. Teachers who have booked a school visit enjoy complimentary admission for this preview.
