A Grey Whale Tale

Dr. Gavin Hanke, curator of vertebrates, will reveal the details of our newest mega-acquisition — a Grey Whale skeleton. Its journey has been a long one, from flensing and burying to exhuming and power washing and transport to the museum.

Please note that this presentation will include some graphic photos, so if whale guts aren't your thing, we'll see you next month instead.

Unleash your inner wildlife photographer at our day-long workshop. You’ll learn how to take better photographs under the guidance of the museum's own photographer, Shane Lighter, and professional wildlife photographer Jess Findlay (a 2019 Wildlife Photographer of the Year finalist).

You’ll spend time in the classroom and in the field, so bring your camera and dress appropriately. Lunch is not included. Suitable for beginners to advanced intermediates
