Plant Galls and What Emerged
Art with a Purpose: Using Art for Advocacy with Jasmine Rodman is a workshop for youth and young adults who want to explore creative ways to talk about the environment, sustainability and the ocean.
In this three hour workshop, learn about successful examples and local issues and help create a banner for ocean advocacy. All materials and supplies will be provided, but space is limited so register in advance.

Stop by to enjoy music by the Langley Ukulele Association. The Langley Senior A Ukulele Ensemble consists of seventeen members, ranging in ages from thirteen to eighteen years old. The ensemble has enjoyed performing in front of live audiences, while extending their productions online to share some presentations across the province, country and world.
In January 2023, the Royal BC Museum began the first phase of community engagement. In only a few months, our engagement team has connected with over 700 people, held 28 public sessions, in 12 different cities and communities across BC.
We are excited to bring to you this RBCM@Home session, where we will share our findings so far, and initial plans for next steps. This first phase was only the beginning, and we look forward to continuing to engage with as many people as possible, from many different cultures and communities across the province in future phases.
A Feedback and Professional Learning Workshop for BC Teachers
The Royal BC Museum is looking to the future and is committed to creating community connections, educational programs, and inclusive, thought-provoking experiences for all British Columbians and visitors from around the world. Part of this process involves re-imagining the existing galleries to be more responsive to all communities who use the galleries- including educators!
Struggling with achieving realistic figures in oils? Or wondering how colour choices can transform your painting? Bring your oil painting questions to this art clinic where artist Chrystal Phan will share practical tips to guide your practice. Participants are encouraged to send questions or photos of their painting issue by May 18th to be shared and discussed with the group. Chrystal will suggest potential solutions and resources.

Curator of paleontology, Dr. Victoria Arbour will share some of the exciting stories of discovery behind our new feature exhibition, Dinosaurs of BC. Hear about her fieldwork plans for this upcoming season and what she hopes to find next.
Spring has sprung and wildflowers are here! Join us for our first Fieldtripper since early 2020, a leisurely stroll or roll with Dr. Ken Marr, Curator of Botany and a CRD Regional Parks naturalist to see what’s out along the accessible Elsie King Trail at Francis/King Regional Park in Saanich. We'll talk all things plants and discover what makes this park so special in springtime.
Join volunteers with Turkish backgrounds, as they come together to perform live music and sing, reminding us all that there is always hope, love and trust. You can take part by sharing words of kindness, love and well-wishes on hearts to the survivors of the recent devastating earthquake in Turkey.

Throughout this current school year, classrooms from across the Greater Victoria School District have been exploring the Salish Sea (both on the water and away from the water). The classes have been on the Salish Sea with Eagle Wing Tours and have been making surprising discoveries through in-class inquiry projects.
Discover the joy of looking at and loving art. Curator of art and images, Dr India Rael Young will select five unique works of art from the Royal BC Museum and BC Archives collection and museum educator Kim Gough will help guide you through a process of slow looking. Following the guided viewing, there will be a discussion and and an opportunity to share your reflections.
British Columbia is Canada’s most mountainous province. How do plants survive and thrive in extreme alpine environments? Curator of botany Dr. Ken Marr works in remote, high altitude places documenting and learning about the plants that live there. Join Dr. Marr for an online visit to some of those places and learn about the wide diversity of plant species in BC alpine habitats and how those plants adapt to the extreme conditions they call home.
Targeted at grades 4 to 7, but everyone is welcome.
