Science Saturday: That's Funny

Step into the strange and surprising world of nature! Explore the quirky, hilarious and downright bizarre side of the natural world through interactive stations in the Natural History gallery. From animals with unusual shapes and behaviours to laugh-out-loud improv comedy, get ready to be amazed and amused by some of nature's strangest and silliest creatures.

The event features both Funny Ha Ha and Funny Peculiar stations:

  • Funny Peculiar- Explore unusual specimens from the Royal BC Museum collection with Vertebrate Zoology Curator Dr. Gavin Hanke. Learn about nature's oddest creatures and their strangest adaptations.
  • Funny Ha Ha- Enjoy lighthearted, improvised theatre about the natural world  with Paper Street Theatre. Using your suggestions, and their imaginations, they'll create scenes and stories that will make you laugh, make you cry, maybe even make you laugh-cry. Either way, it's a performance that is sure to make you look at nature in a very different way.
  • Funny Peculiar- Get crafty at our wacky making station, about the most unusual animals in nature.
  • Funny Ha Ha- Find jokes hidden around the Natural History gallery. What is huge and shaggy with tusks and horns? You'll need to come to find out!

Drop in anytime for laughs, learning and fun!
