The HAQ and History: Punjabi Canadian Legacy Project panel exhibition will be on display in Clifford Carl Hall from March 31 to April 14.
The HAQ and History travelling exhibit was co-developed by the Royal BC Museum in partnership with the South Asian Canadian Studies Institute (SASI) at the University of the Fraser Valley alongside many cross-sectoral and community partners. "Haq" means "rights" in Punjabi, and this exhibit is about communities' rights and rightful places in our collective history.
In two rounds of consultations in 2015-2016 and 2017-2018 across regions with deep community roots, Punjabi Canadians around the Province of British Columbia identified themes that are central to their experiences of immigration and lives through generations. Their stories are shared in their own voices in the Haq and History exhibit.
