The Art of Printmaking Workshop

The Art of Printmaking Workshop

Block printing is one of the oldest forms of printmaking, offering a simple yet effective way to create unique graphics and patterns. In this introductory relief printmaking workshop, Marlene Yuen will show you how to take your own image, transfer it to a Speedy Carve block, and carve a linocut-style stamp. You will experiment with water-soluble ink, printing your image onto various colored papers and cardstock.

Each student will create a 4” x 6” block print stamp and produce multiple prints to take home. To wrap up the workshop, Marlene will demonstrate how to turn your print into a simple pamphlet-stitched book cover. Due to the use of sharp carving tools, this workshop is for ages 16 and up.

What’s included:

  • One 4 x 6 Speedy Carve block
  • Ink
  • Paper
  • All tools needed to create your print
