When a grade 2 class from Discovery Elementary School (in Shawnigan Lake, BC) heard about the environmental problem of plastics in the ocean, they decided it was time to take action by making art from trash.
These dedicated and creative learners, led by educator Vanessa Tan, have designed and built a collaborative mural from collected trash, specifically bottle caps. This up-cycled artwork, titled Plastic Free Salish Sea was created by the entire class, and their hope is to inspire others to clean up their community and get creative.
Come see this amazing artwork as a pop up display within the Oracs: Our Shared Future exhibition.
