Family Day Webinar: Family Recipes

Cook along with Daniela Pinto, intercultural community building practitioner, performer and storyteller as she shares her Brazilian culture and we learn to make a treat that kids and anyone with a sweet tooth will love – brigadeiro. These fudgy balls are decorated with sprinkles and are a staple at Brazilian festivities.

To bake along, get the ingredients listed below and start step one before joining online. Or watch first and make later. (Makes 20-25 Brigadeiros):

Ingredients:

  • 1 (14oz) can sweetened condensed milk (395 g)
  • 50 g of chocolate (milk, dark, or white) - alternatively you can use 1/4 cup cocoa powder (30 g)
  • 1 Tbsp butter, plus more for rolling balls
  •  A pinch of salt
  •  1 cup chocolate sprinkles (160 g), as needed

Preparation:

  1.     In a pot over low heat, melt the butter, condensed milk, and chocolate (or cocoa powder), stirring continuously until you can see the bottom of the   pot for 2-3 seconds when dragging a spatula through.
  2.     Pour onto a greased plate, then let it chill for about 30 min.
  3.     Shape and roll the chilled mixture into balls.
  4.     Roll the balls in chocolate sprinkles.
