Living Fossils at Beacon Hill Park

Trees like dawn redwoods, sequoias, gingkos, magnolias, and araucarias (monkey puzzle trees) were really common during the age of dinosaurs, but are relatively rare today. Many of these species can be found in Victoria's Beacon Hill Park. Join curator of paleontology Dr. Victoria Arbour and curator of botany Dr. Ken Marr on a virtual walk back in time in this beautiful urban park. We’ll look at some fossil samples from the museum collection and talk a bit about how paleontologists use fossil plants to learn about ancient climates.
