VICTORIA, BC — Summer is finally here, bringing with it an exciting, fresh lineup of events and activities for all ages at the Royal BC Museum.

“We are kicking summer off in a big way here at the Royal BC Museum with a busy and expansive schedule of activities for those of all ages, experiences and interests,” says Tracey Drake, CEO of the Royal BC Museum. “With our amazing feature exhibitions, Stonehenge and coming soon, Canadian Modern, a phenomenal lineup of documentaries and Hollywood films at IMAX® Victoria, hands-on onsite learning programs, and an upcoming Indigenous Artist Market, whatever the weather, we have something for you.”

June is Indigenous History Month, so why not stop by the Indigenous Artist Market on June 22 from 10 a.m. – 4 a.m., to celebrate the work and talent of Indigenous artists and makers. The market will take place outside on the museum precinct and includes some of the finest weavers, beaders, carvers and more.

“From fascinating exhibitions to engaging events, the Royal BC Museum has been a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike for decades,” says Lana Popham, Minister for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport. “This summer's lineup offers a wonderful variety of experiences that highlight our rich and diverse heritage and vibrant cultures, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy.”

June is also pride month and pride events hosted by Victoria Pride Society are taking place throughout Victoria June 27–July 7. Stop by the museum and make some free personalized buttons to show and celebrate your Pride with button making sessions on June 30 and July 1!

After Hours is back with more adult-oriented fun on July 18 with Makers Space. Step into the vibrant world of mid-century modern design before exploring our newest exhibition Canadian Modern, opening June 28 on the museum’s third floor. Learn about key figures and movements that shaped this unique period in design history, from the early 20th century right up to today.

Join us for the third Saturday of each month for Maker Saturday, beginning July 20 with Canadian Modern-themed activities from 1–3 p.m., and again on August 17 when we dive deep into what our future cities should look like through innovative engineering principles.

Interested in a tour? Guided tours of the Natural History gallery, the Native Plant Garden and Stonehenge, our feature exhibition about the mysterious stone monument, are also offered on a weekly basis. Behind the scenes tours are also back with limited times and dates. And don’t forget to swing by Sundays from 3–3:45 p.m. for a weekly recital at the Netherlands Centennial Carillon.

The summer lineup for IMAX® Victoria is in full swing with Jane Goodall: Reasons for Hope, Blue Whales: Return of the Giants, Wingsuit Flyers, and Cities of the Future, with an exciting series of Hollywood feature films, including The Blue Angels, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Furiosa, with more to come throughout August and September.

Also join us for a sensory-sensitive screening of Wingsuit Flyers on July 7 at 10 a.m., and a French language screening of Great Bear Rainforest (Dans la forêt de l’ours esprit), scheduled for July 23 at 10 a.m., with potential for additional future screenings depending on demand.

New events and programs are added every week, so make sure to check out the Royal BC Museum events calendar regularly. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for further updates.
