FBCA members will enjoy a visit to the newly revitalized Point Ellice House Museum and Gardens. Under new management in 2019, the Vancouver Island Local History Society has undertaken an ambitious renovation and conservation project that includes a new feature exhibit space in the Visitor Centre and refreshed exhibits and interpretation inside the house. The feature exhibit for 2019 is Point Ellice House: The Politics of Luxury.
Point Ellice House is a nationally and provincially designated historic site. Today, the house and gardens provide a rare opportunity to see one of North America’s largest collections of late Victorian and early Edwardian objects in their original setting. Point Ellice House continues to be a site for recreation, social gatherings, and learning, a small oasis in the midst of urban commotion. Point Ellice House is located at 2616 Pleasant Street in the Rock Bay neighbourhood of Victoria.
