Museum Grounds Maintenance Work

The museum is undertaking some much-needed maintenance work around the museum grounds – but don’t worry, we are still open!
These essential projects will help to make spaces safer and more accessible, and ensure the preservation of important pieces of provincial history.

What’s happening:

  • We are replacing the roof on Helmcken House;
  • We are replacing the exterior concrete to the east and in front of the building;
  • We are replacing sewage lines behind on the west side corner of the building; and
  • We are doing preventative maintenance on the totem poles in Thunderbird Park.

What to expect:

  • Some of this work is already underway and will continue into the fall of 2024.
  • Directional signage will be provided to guide visitors around the construction areas.
  • Helmcken House will be closed during the roof replacement in September, but programming will continue throughout August.

We appreciate your patience and understanding

Thank you for your support and understanding as we work to make spaces safer and more accessible.
