Exploring the theme of 'Thinking like a Scientist', experienced volunteers will be on hand in the Natural History gallery with fun and engaging activities. These stations are designed for self-guided school classes, but are open to all curious visitors.
How do scientists use observation skills to better understand the world around them? How can museum specimens further our own personal awareness of species diversity? Why does it matter so much? These stations in the gallery will help address these questions through hands-on and welcoming activities.

Focus on Nature
Aspiring shutterbugs can develop their skills by participating in a photography-inspired camp. Campers will learn about photo composition and storytelling, venture to Beacon Hill Park to capture dynamic nature shots and explore the Royal BC Museum’s Natural History collection, as well as the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
Before and after camp care is available (8am- 9am and 4pm- 5pm).
Vancouver Island is blessed with wonderfully diverse fauna. But did you know that some local animals are actually invasive? Discover which animals are native to our island and which come from somewhere else, and learn what we can do to help our environment.
