Summer is sliding towards September and time’s running out for a memorable family visit to the Royal BC Museum! With touchable artifacts, interactive games, lively videos and never-before-seen artifacts, Maya: The Great Jaguar Rises appeals across the generations. Here’s what people are saying:

So glad we stopped at this museum. The current exhibit was on the Maya civilization and my teens enjoyed seeing their AP World History class come to life!

Brilliant design to incorporate a child’s (and adult’s!) desire to touch the artifacts!

I really loved the Maya exhibit…especially the inclusion of 3D-printed replicas of some of the pieces (how often do you see “please touch” in a museum!), plus contemporary Mayan textiles and masks. There was so much amazing pottery and stonework, and clear descriptions of modes of agriculture and shifts in political structure over time to help make sense of the pieces beyond just their aesthetic virtues.

One of the best exhibits I have ever seen in any museum anywhere in the world. It’s on ‘til the end of December 2019. Go, observe, enjoy and learn about this wondrous civilization.

Having been to Guatemala several times, I found this exhibit to be very informative and beautifully presented. It’s a highlight of our trip to Victoria!

We are so proud to have visited this beautiful exhibition! It is so easy to learn about the Maya culture here. We have seen some of these kinds of things before, but…not like this! Not with all these lights and all this art! And this is all authentic—not a false replica! It is very, very special! Thank you for this exhibition. It makes us feel so proud of our country!
