Royal BC Museum and IMAX® Victoria closed Friday, December 23, 2022

Release

VICTORIA, BC - The Royal BC Museum and IMAX® Victoria will be closed today, Friday, December 23, 2022 for the safety of our visitors and staff.

On the afternoon of Thursday, December 22, the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness issued a travel advisory for south Vancouver Island, as poor weather is expected later in the day. As of 8:00 am, all public transit services in Victoria continue to be suspended.

The BC Archives reference room will be open today from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm with partial service only, as the museum’s security contractor will be able to facilitate access for researchers.

The museum will monitor the situation throughout the day, and hopes that normal service and hours of operation will resume tomorrow. Any further updates will be communicated through the Royal BC Museum and IMAX® Victoria websites and on social media.

Visitors who have pre-purchased a ticket for the museum or for an IMAX® screening today will be contacted by a member of our team.
