VICTORIA, BC — Back for another year of exploration, discovery and adventure, the IMAX® Victoria Film Festival is ready to transport you through time and space with an all-star lineup of documentary films from March 3 to 26.
Returning for the first time since early 2020, this year’s festival features something for everyone—from “doggle”-wearing doggos to the deepest depths of the ocean and the furthest reaches of the universe. Eight films with six great themes, including three feature-length documentaries, are sure to captivate and delight.
“We’re certainly seeing a huge buzz around this year’s film festival,” says Colin Hardie, Theatre and Box Office Senior Manager at IMAX® Victoria. “It’s exciting to welcome it back and great to know we’ll be showcasing what the public really wants to see. Hundreds of votes were cast in the People’s Choice Vote and we’re happy to see the winner, the classic 1988 documentary Beavers, return to the giant screen.”
Fan favourites—Oceans: Our Blue Planet, Hidden Universe and Superpower Dogs—join Animal Kingdom: A Tale of Six Families, a brand-new release from IMAX, and Beavers, the winner of the People’s Choice vote, for the film festival’s daily schedule. The Scattering of Man, Haida Modern, and Unarchived, the festival’s three feature-length films, will screen on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the festival, with guest speaker Q&As included March 3, 4 and 5.
“Including fan favourites was a no brainer, but we also wanted to try something that has never been done before. Featuring a brand-new release from IMAX was really important to us and showcasing three feature-length BC films with guest speaker Q&As added more depth to the film festival while encouraging audience engagement,” says Hardie.
Film festival passes are available for purchase at the Royal BC Museum box office for $49. Visitors can also upgrade to an IMAX® Victoria Annual Pass for only $59 and see unlimited documentaries for 12 months, along with a whole host of other perks.
