Community Days return to the Royal BC Museum for 2023

Release

VICTORIA, BC —Community Days return to the Royal BC Museum this week. From Tuesday, January 3 until Sunday, January 8, members of the community are invited to escape the chilly winter weather and rediscover the museum. During Community Days, admission is by donation.

Visitors will be taken on an expedition across the globe with the phenomenal Wildlife Photograph of the Year exhibition, and can journey back home to BC through the coastal forests and seashores of the Natural History Gallery, via the Ice Age and Ocean Station of course.

IMAX® Victoria provides an opportunity to continue the adventure with a trip to The Arctic: The Last Great Wilderness or Serengeti on the giant screen. For the full schedule please visit the IMAX® Victoria website. Regular admission prices apply at all IMAX® Victoria screenings during Community Days.

Last held in 2020, prior to the pandemic, Community Days are traditionally offered annually as a way to thank the community for its ongoing support of the Royal BC Museum.

Donations gathered during Community Days help to fund the museum’s vast range of operations, including creating online learning programs and events, collecting specimens from BC’s alpine meadows and coastal waters, digitizing historical photographs, conserving artifacts and lots, lots more.

Community Days are proudly supported by Helijet.

About the Royal BC Museum: The Royal BC Museum explores the province’s human history and natural history, advances new knowledge and understanding of BC, and provides a dynamic forum for discussion and a place for reflection. The museum and archives celebrate culture and history, telling the stories of BC in ways that enlighten, stimulate, and inspire. Located in Victoria on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen (Songhees and Xwsepsum Nations), we are a hub of community connections in BC — onsite, offsite, and online — taking pride in our collective histories.
