On May31st 1933 the Sister’s of St Ann, in celebration of their Diamond Jubilee unveiled a marble tablet in the Pioneer Convent  and agreed that the building must be preserved as a historic marker of the great contribution made by the Sisters education in British Columbia.  In the 1950s the building was moved from its original site to a location closer to St Ann’s Academy.

In 1971 after lengthy and profound consideration it was decided to transfer the Pioneer convent tot eh Royal BC Museum.  IN 1974 the building moved to its final home in Elliott Square near Helmcken House.

In 1994 working in cooperation with the Sisters of St Ann; the Royal BC Museum, the BC History Education Committee and the Ministry of Education opened a new exhibit celebrating the history of public education in British Columbia.
