As a mass market publication, it is not unique to our collection and at first glance you might wonder why we even have it. However there was a time when our library actively collected fiction written by BC authors and by non-BC authors where the action took place in BC.

Nurse MacLean tells the timeless tale of a Scottish nurse fleeing an unhappy love affair. She comes to Victoria BC to work at the Royal Western Hospital of Neurosurgery (partly based on the Royal Jubilee Hospital) and quickly learns to appreciate the informality and beauty of Vancouver Island, not to mention the hamburgers. But will she find love again?
