Grasshopper–Owl bowl

Materials:
sandstone

The ingenious artist who made this unique sandstone bowl combined two figures in one by having the creatures at each end of the bowl share bodies. From one end, we see an owl-like bird whose wings extend along the sides of the bowl. When viewed from the other end, we see a grasshopper-like creature with a human-like face. The abdomen of this creature is also the wings of the bird at the other end.

This artifact was found in Burnaby in the Lower Fraser River Region.
