Sir James Douglas gave this engraved silver christening cup along with a handwritten note to his godchild, Arthur Douglas Crease in 1872.

Arthur Crease was the youngest child of Attorney General Henry P.P. Crease and his wife Sarah Lindley.

James Douglas, retired chief factor of the Hudson’s Bay Company, and former Governor of British Columbia was a mentor and supporter of Arthur’s father.
