These two posts stood inside a traditional house at
the Huu-ay-aht community of Sarita on Barkley Sound, supporting the
structure’s
large cedar roof beams. Charles F. Newcombe purchased the posts in
1911. In Thunderbird Park they were exhibited out of context, affixed
to the outside of an inaccurate version of a six-beamed Haida house
and supporting two Haida house beams from t’anuu ‘llnagaay
carved in the shape of Sea Lions. The posts are now on display in
the museum.
