Since its opening in 1941 Helmcken house has been an active museum with a broad range of programs for Adults and Children being offered on a regular basis. Schools regularly meet at the house to learn about the nineteenth century domestic arts, Christmas traditions and family life. Sometimes we see Dr Helmcken as a politician, sometimes as a doctor and sometimes as a family man. Sometimes the house is seen through his children’s eyes and sometimes through his eyes and sometimes through the visitor’s eyes. But however, we look at the house and its contents this building and its contents are significant in helping us understand British Columbia history.
