How do I become a member?

How do I purchase a membership as a gift?

There are two ways to purchase a membership as a gift.

  1. Purchase a gift membership for the recipient: The membership will be effective from the date of purchase and the card(s) will be printed and mailed, to you or the recipient, or you can have them picked up at box office. You can purchase a gift membership online, at the box office, or by printing and completing the application form and mailing it to:

  2. Purchase a membership gift certificate: The membership will be effective from the date that the gift certificate is redeemed and the card(s) will be printed and mailed, to you or the recipient, or you can have them picked up at box office. You can purchase a membership gift certificate online, at the box office, or by printing and completing the application form and mailing it to the above address. Gift certificates are good for the value at which they are purchased. Gift certificates have no cash value and cannot be refunded or exchanged. Not valid for museum or IMAX admission. Not valid with any other offer.

Do you offer discounts for seniors or students?

We offer senior, student and youth membership rates; please see the “Prices” tab.

Children five and under are free, but what happens if they turn six during the membership year?

If your child turns six during the year of your membership, they are still free until your membership expires.

Are memberships valid for a calendar year or from the time I join?

Memberships are valid for one year from the date of purchase.

I paid daily admission and now want to become a member, can I use my admission towards my membership?

Bring your Royal BC Museum admission ticket to the box office on the same day as your visit and we will deduct the cost of your museum admission from your membership.

As a member, do I need to wait in line for a museum ticket?

Members enjoy express entry. During feature exhibitions, members may require a timed entry ticket to visit the galleries. Timed entry tickets help us manage occupancy levels in the galleries to ensure you have an enjoyable visit.

Is entry to feature exhibitions included with my membership?

As a member, you are entitled to entry to all of our permanent and feature exhibitions as many times as you like.

Do my guests receive a discount?

As a member, you receive 10% off your guest’s museum admission — up to two people per visit. Affinity members receive between two and four complementary guest passes per year. Check out more member benefits under the “Levels and Benefits” tab.

How can I update my contact information?

To ensure you continue to receive up-to-date information about what’s on at the Royal BC Museum and continue to receive our What's inSight magazine please let us know of your email or address change by contacting the membership department at 250-387-3287 or via email at membership@royalbcmuseum.bc.ca.

How can I add an email address so that I save paper and receive email only?

Want to go green? By giving us your email address, you are helping us keep our carbon footprint small. Please make this request to the membership department at 250-387-3287 or via email at membership@royalbcmuseum.bc.ca.

Do you have reciprocals with other museums or organizations?

We are continuously working with other museums and organizations to offer our members benefits. For more information on our current partners, please see the “Levels and Benefits” tab.

Can I purchase tickets online with my membership discount?

You can purchase event or program tickets online and receive your member discount by signing in. If you don’t have an account with us but are a member, please create a new account.

Can someone else use my membership?

Memberships are specific to the individual member and are non-transferable.

When will I receive my membership cards?

When you purchase your membership in person at the box office, you will receive your card immediately. If you purchase your membership online or by mail, your cards will be mailed to you within 5-10 business days.

I lost my membership card; how do I replace it?

Membership cards can be replaced; please visit the box office. A $5 card replacement fee applies.

I never received my membership card(s). Who should I contact?
