Fieldtrippers: Archaeology Walk

Join Dr. Genevieve Hill, archaeology collections manager, for this walk and talk about the archaeology of the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Cowichan Garry Oak Preserve. Participants will learn about the ways in which Cowichan First Nations and their ancestors have long lived in this ecologically and culturally rich area. Nature Conservancy of Canada staff will share the conservation story of the preserve, introducing participants to the ongoing efforts to revitalize the wildflower meadows and support the resurgence of historically common wildlife, such as western bluebirds and native bees

Park on Maple Bay Road just east of Aitken Road. Then walk to the meeting area on Aitken Road (approximately 300 metres). Bring water, wear sturdy and suitable shoes and be prepared for rain. Children ages 12 and up accompanied by an adult are welcome. No  dogs please.
