Plan Your School Visit
Come See for Yourself
We welcome teachers to visit the Royal BC Museum galleries and preview the exhibits before they bring a class or group of students for a tour. This is a great opportunity for you to consider how to structure your students’ time during a visit, what exhibitions to focus your curriculum on, and what materials you may need to prepare.
Admission to the permanent galleries is free for teachers who have booked a school visit. Please provide your pre-booked visit confirmation number when arranging a teacher preview or pre-visit tour.
Payment MUST be made in person by Canadian or US cash, organization cheque in Canadian funds (payable to the Royal BC Museum Corporation), Visa, MasterCard, American Express, money order in Canadian funds, or Interac.
Credit Card authorization forms must be used if the credit card owner is not present to sign the receipt. Click here for the form.
For your security and protection, it is important that your card number is not communicated via email or phone as these methods are not secure. Instead have the teacher or group leader present the original signed form, in person, to a cashier at the box office on the day of their visit as payment for the booking.
April, May and June are consistently busy with school groups. Please consider booking earlier when planning this year’s visit.
Ensure to contact the museum well in advance of your visit to ensure that we can accommodate you. Large numbers of visitors at one time can hamper your learning experience. For this reason, we reserve the right to restrict the number of booked groups allowed per day. We accept bookings for BC School Groups Tuesdays – Sundays.
Please note: Backpacks are NOT permitted in the Museum galleries.

Bags & Backpacks
Please bring only smaller bags or packs and leave any non-essentials in your vehicles, on the bus, or at your school. Bags larger than 30 cm by 30 cm are not allowed in the exhibit areas. Exceptions will only be made for First Aid and health-essential equipment bags.
We can not provide secure storage for oversize items brought by visiting groups. If you have no other option, a member of your group can monitor an open, non-secure storage area, which you may use at your own risk, if available. Non-secure storage spaces can fill quickly during busy group visit periods.
