Behind the Scenes Tours

The Royal BC Museum is dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming space for all our visitors. We take our direction from provincial health authorities in order to provide the best support to our visitors and staff. We are suspending bookings on programming until further notice.  Please check back regularly for updates.  In the meantime continue to visit us digitally, we have programs for everyone.

Get behind the scenes and tour our collections. Yep, that’s right. Grab your backstage pass: we’re going to actually take you into the Royal BC Museum collections. See for yourself where we keep those jars, boxes and bins, and experience the working environment of our talented researchers and staff.

Two different Behind the Scenes Tours to explore:

  • Butterflies and More: Entomology Collection
  • Mammal Matters: Vertebrates Collection

Each Behind The Scenes Tour lasts 30 minutes and is limited to 10 people. You can sign up in person an hour ahead of each tour, on a first‐come first‐served basis (cost is included with admission). Throughout the winter months, they are on the third Wednesday and the second and last Saturday of each month.

These tours have been designated as Canadian Signature Experiences, once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences found only in Canada.
