Exploring Our Remote Coast

Free noon-hour talks on the first Wednesday of the month feature curators and researchers working at the Royal BC Museum.

Collections Manager Heidi Gartner shares the revelations of her summer field research.

In May 2016, Royal BC Museum Researcher and Invertebrate Collection Manager Heidi Gartner boarded a Canadian Coast Guard research vessel to explore the remote central coast of British Columbia.  Alongside colleagues from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, she spent two weeks combing the wild northern coastline in search of living treasures. Join us as they recount their discoveries of the diverse and the exotic—and describe some incredible surprises they encountered along the way. This field work was generously funded by Teck, lead partner in biodiversity.
