Fashion Machine 100

Fashion Machine 100 is a live performance event by Theatre SKAM that features 100 local children and youth remaking select audience members’ outfits in under one hour.

Upon arrival at the show, each audience member is given a choice between two stickers. “I’m in” means you are willing to have the clothes you are wearing cut up and entirely altered. Choose the sticker with the chicken on it and the kids will leave you alone. During the performance, the audience moves about the space, observing each team of children at work, listening to pop music and viewing multimedia projections of the kids at work, along with prerecorded messages for the audience.

The children are prepared for the event by a team of professionals who provide 12 hours of training in textiles, theatre and photography.

Fashion Machine 100 is produced with the assistance of Victoria’s InterCultural Association and appears at the Royal BC Museum before traveling to Cardiff Wales for an appearance at Chapter Arts with 100 local children from Cardiff.

The show is part installation, part performance and all fun.
