Fieldtrippers: Insects at the Summit

Spring is a great time to gather on a hilltop: you can take in the view, breathe some fresh air and see the wildflowers in bloom. Many insects also gather on hilltops, but not for the flora or the scenery. They gather on hills to find mates. Join Entomology Curator Joel Gibson, as he leads a walk around the summit of Pkols (Mount Douglas). We will observe some of the fascinating flying creatures that gather there.

Meet at the summit parking lot of Pkols (Mount Douglas), Saanich Parks.

There is no road access to the summit at this time of day. Participants must hike to the top on their own. Allow 30-60 minutes depending on your fitness level.Trails are moderate to difficult. More information about the location here.

Children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Please leave dogs at home.
