Celebrate with us on October 25, 2016
Visit the Royal BC Museum as we celebrate our 130th anniversary on October 25, 2016. The first 130 paid admissions* will receive a free chocolate from Rogers’ Chocolates.
On this special occasion we are also unlocking our vault to share some of our original Emily Carr paintings. We will place five oil paintings on public display, including “Yan, Q.C.I.”, “Tanoo, Q.C.I.”, “Sombreness Sunlit”, “Kitamaux, Hazelton” and “Roots”.
Then, dive deeper and join one of our Behind the Scenes Tours to see for yourself where we keep those jars, boxes and bins, and experience the working environment of our talented researchers and staff.
Butterflies and More
Each Behind the Scenes Tour lasts 30 minutes and is limited to 10 people. You can sign up in person an hour ahead of each tour, on a first‐come first‐served basis (cost is included with admission).
We’re looking forward to the next 130 years as your provincial museum, a hub of community connections for all British Columbians, taking pride in our collective histories.
*One chocolate per paid admission to the Royal BC Museum. Valid on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 only. While supplies last. Not valid for IMAX Victoria, programs or special events. No refunds or exchanges.
Ice Age Art Contest
Leading up to our 130th anniversary, we invited BC kids to submit original artwork in our Ice Age art contest. From hundreds of submissions, we chose 20 winners, representing various age groups and regions of the province. Congratulations to all our new Royal BC Museum Youth Ambassadors!
