“South Pole: 900 Miles on Foot”
Gareth Wood lived two years in a small hut in Antarctica. During that time, he and two Britons trekked 900 miles on foot to the South Pole, becoming the first in history to accomplish such a journey without support such as dog sleds or radio communications. Wood will also share stories of his recent return to Antarctica in February of 2013.A question and answer period and book signing will follow the presentation.
The Quest Series:
Each month, meet a new British Columbian adventurer who dared to explore the Antarctic. Whether stretching the limits of their endurance, gaining a new appreciation for their environment or exploring a family connection – they have all come away with unique experiences and a lifetime of memories. This series will feature an ASL interpreter.
