As part of its mandate, the archives has preserved the records of numerous Royal Commissions, covering many different topics pertaining to life in British Columbia. This document is titled “Royal Commission into all Matters Pertaining to the Doukhobor Sect in British Columbia (1912), An important issue in BC in the 20th Century.”

This was the first of several commissions between 1912 and 1960 examining BC’s Doukhobor community. The 1912 commission, which met in August and September of that year, looked at issues relating to the recent arrival of the sect in the province. The final report presented 11 findings and 8 recommendations.

The archival holdings provide documentation of the commission through a copy of the original report, a scrapbook of newspaper clippings, transcripts of evidence, and exhibits.
